巧书是国内首家互动小说平台,上线于 2016 年底,用户可在此创作并发表自己的互动小说。在本次改版中,我负责带领产品设计与开发团队,重塑其产品定位及品牌形象,并且设计了全新的互动小说创作方式,大大提升了作者们的创作效率和创作体验。

Qiaobooks is an interactive fiction platform. People can create and publish their interactive fiction here. I redefined product positioning and branding, created a new way to write interactive fiction, which improves author's writing experience efficiently.

互动小说简介

互动小说可以令读者通过选择故事的不同分支,到达不同的结局。另外如日本 galgame、冒险游戏 Lifeline、app Hooked 等皆可视为互动小说的衍生形态。

Interactive fiction allows reader to reach different endings by choosing different branches in the story. Such as Japanese Galgame, AVG Lifeline, app Hooked are all interactive fiction derivative form.

设计挑战

网站上线以来已有几千名注册用户,但内部却尚未做过系统的用户分析。这致使团队无法有效运营内容、精准推广产品。因此目前对于我们而言,首要问题是知道:
谁是我们的潜在用户?
带着这个疑问,我负责组织产品设计团队开始了新一轮的用户调研。

There have been a few thousand registered users since the site was online for six months, but no systematic user analysis has been done. This has made it impossible for us to effectively operate content and accurately promote our products. So for the team, the first question is to understand:
Who is our potential user?
With this question, I was responsible for organizing the design team to start user research.

用户标签

后台数据显示,目前用户以 18 至 25 岁年龄段的年轻人为代表。基于此,我们观察了目前市面上流行的年轻人社区产品及各种媒体内容,按不同类型提炼出下面的热门标签。

Background data shows that users are currently represented by young people in the 18 to 25 age group. Then, we observed the popular young people's community products and various media content currently available in the market, and extracted the following popular tags.

紧接着,我们将整理后的标签放入「潜在用户坐标」中,并总结出「用户量」大且「重要性」高的一些标签。完成上面的工作,让我们对产品的设计方向有了初步判断,并且这些标签将对后续的内容运营提供指导性意见。

Immediately, we placed the sorted tags in "Potential user grid" and summarized some tags with large users and importance. After these work, we have a preliminary judgment on the direction of the future, and these labels will provide guidance on the follow-up content operations.

用户访谈

用户访谈可以令产品团队了解人们如何使用我们的产品,为什么使用,以及他们还抱有哪些期待。我们征集了 16 名用户进行一对一访谈,以下是收获的重要信息。

User interviews enable product team to understand how people use our products, why they use them, and what expectations they have. so we invited 16 users with different attributes and conducted multiple rounds of interviews. Here is our harvest.

调研结果摘要

核心人群:青年(约 18~30 岁),边缘用户为青少年与中青年;
核心题材:悬疑侦探、架空历史、搞笑、玄幻、恋爱;
具有巨大潜力的用户关键词:年轻、脑洞大、名人、男神女神、草根、二次元。

Core user: youth (about 18 to 30 years old), the edge of the user are teenager and middle-aged people.
Core genre: mystery, detective, history, humor, fantasy, romance.
Great potential users keywords: youth, creative, celebrity, gorgeous, masses, ACG.

PERSONA

完成阶段性调研后,我们据此创建了 2 张典型的 PERSONA,并展示给其他部门的同事,以便在今后的工作中达成共识、服务用户。

After research, we created 2 PERSONAs accordingly and presented them to colleagues in other departments so that we can reach consensus and focus on serving users in our future work.

清晰产品线

为了更好地进行项目管理以及后续开发,我将作者创作用的「编辑器」独立出一条产品线,专为作者设计。

In order to manage the project better and follow up the development, I created another product line — Editor, to designed for author.

重要新功能

我在本次改版设计中,还为产品增加了两个重要的新功能:
1. 下载结构图。这个功能来自我对「作者群」的观察。我发现作者们喜欢宣传自己写了如何复杂的故事,并且截图分享给人们。于是我们直接开发了一键下载结构图的功能;
2. 收起写作区、放大缩小结构区。这个功能来自专家作者用户的需求,他们会撰写更为复杂的故事,需要更方便地一览整个作品结构。

In this redesign, I also added two important new features to the product:
1. Download story map. This feature comes from my observation of "authorship." I found that the authors like to promote their own complicated stories and share screenshots with people. So we directly developed a key to download the structure of the function;
2. Collapse the writing area, zoom in and out story map. This feature comes from the needs of users of expert authors. They will write more complex stories and need to have a more convenient overview of the entire structure of the work.

可用性测试

在新版编辑器正式上线前,我们进行了从简单到复杂任务的可用性测试。由于本轮测试目的是测试产品的易理解性和易用性,因此我们邀请了身边的普通年轻朋友。

Before new editor released, we conducted usability testing from simple to complex tasks.. Cause the purpose of this round of testing was to test the product's usability, we invited young friends around us.

新网站成果

新网站上线后,网站各类指标皆获得不同程度增长,我在此统计了改版前后 3 个月的几个数据对比。当然,好的数字也离不开整个团队的齐心协力,感谢巧书。

Since launch the new website, all indicators have grown to different degrees. I have hereby compared the statistics of the three months before and after the revision. And of course, good numbers are also inseparable from the hard work of all member. Thanks Qiaobooks.
